Lankan President gets 3rd term

Sri Lankas cabinet, has approved the amendments to the constitution to allow President Mahinda Rajapaksa to seek a third term, a minister said. Rajapaksa's popularity is high because they brought a 25-year war with Tamil separatists to end, and critics have accused him of manipulating the willingness to consolidate their power. Under current law, the second term of Rajapaksa, which begins in November, would be the last.
