Decision making at the top of Shiv Sena-BJP controlled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to graduates increased by 1.2 lakh Marathi two civilians, provoking protests from the opposition.
"The BMC is likely that a circular in this sense today," Rahul Shewale, chairman of the Standing Committee of the BMC has adopted the proposal, he said.
Asked to name the number of employees who will benefit from the decision Shewale BMC said, "we are collecting data."
Opposing the initiative to consider only candidates Marathi, Rajhans Singh, Leader of the Opposition in the civic body said that incentives should be extended to students in Hindi too.
But Singh said Shewale had not proposed such a thing during the committee meeting. He stopped, he added Shewale.
Base Shewale said the controversial proposal that for political reasons should be read into the decision. "This is just to promote good local governance, a good knowledge of the language," he said.
"This will prevent syntax errors in the letters written in Marathi in the state government for more bodies," he said.
The plan was suggested by the MNS corporator Mangesh Sangalo in April, and has overcome all obstacles quickly, since no political party - if the Sena, the BJP or the Congress - would be seen as anti-Marathi.
Singh said the same should be provided to graduate students in Hindi to ensure no discrimination.
"If the BMC does not, may challenge the decision in court," he added.
Civic officials said the BMC by the law society has the right to take action to promote local language.
"If the local company does not press his local language," He asked.
