Number of Indian students in Australia
has fallen by nearly half after the storm of international education,
legislative changes and the global financial crisis. In 2008-09, the Indian
passports were issued 65,503 visas for Australian students in all sectors of
education. But in 2009-10, the number dropped to only 29,721. Overall, fewer
than 50,540 foreign students granted a visa to study in Australia
in 2009-10 compared to 2008-09. According to 'The Age', the overall number of
student visas has dropped by over 16% last year. He also said that the new
figures were also due to security problems students to press the number of
students. A number of Indians have been attacked in Australia
raises concerns. Stephen Connelly, president of the International Association
for the Education of Australia, said the decline is not surprising, but very
disturbing.
"There is so popular, we are creating by students in
our country and ourselves in the foot all the time," he said.
